i'm sitting in the library at college, reading a book on art history for class.

i really like learning. especially things to do with art and writing. i feel like when i have to start writing those MLA format essays i might have a problem because when writing, i want to just use my own method of writing...meaning rambling, ornate, floral language. but i guess i'll do fine.

love

ahh, those formats :P they were the bane of many existences when i was in school! i miss being a student very much, though..... i've thought of going back here and there for random classes. there's one about new age religions at a local college that i think i'd really like to take.....
how is school going? i hope you are enjoying yourself

MLA is necessary for ease of reading. I prefer academic readings to get straight to the point - beating around the bush by weaving around the page just weakens arguments. It's just a form of passing on cold, hard data with a sprinkling of speculation. Objectivity is a difficult thing to achieve in writing, we being such emotional creatures and all.

necessary evils...

Agreed. There's a place for flowery prose (obviously ;) ) but academic papers aren't it.

MLA is BS says ME. (:
I prefer poetry.
But I reckon the choice doesn't belong to us, when learning.

i don't like all of the rigid order and rules impose upon writing in those types of structures. i adhere to grammar for the most part, and attempt to make things coherent. but i don't like so many rules for writing. it makes it more difficult for no reason. i feel as if my writing is turned into a checklist for certain guidelines.
but i suppose so(:
